The Met Gala was cancelled this year so we would like to remember the good times and highlight the 2016 exhibition at the Met’s Costume Institute, China through the Looking which ran extended through September 7th 2016 at the Metropolitan Museum.
China through the Looking Glass was an exhibition which explored the influence of Chinese culture and art on designers, from Coco Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander Mc Queen and John Galliano, of haute-couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear fashion. It featured Chinese art- pottery, calligraphy art, furniture and art- juxtaposed against more than 100 fashion clothing and jewelry pieces.
